INVESTMENT ASSOCIATE

Family Office is looking to hire a Investment Associate / Analyst to join their team.
The Office invests across the whole asset class spectrum, with a strong focus on Alternatives including Private Equity (both Directly and via Funds).
The Office also provides financial support to a connected Principals in their proprietary investments away from the FO.
Professional Background:
The successful candidate
- will have outstanding intellectual and analytical skills
- will have experience with M&A, Private Equity and/or Venture Capital, and a strong understanding of corporate finance
- is likely to have been working in investment banking, private equity, transaction services, management consulting or another family office in a similar capacity
- may have a relevant professional qualification such as CFA, CA, etc.
- must have a strong intellectual curiosity about investing and a commitment to learning
- must have the ability to cultivate new relationships within the investment community to provide other sources of new deals
- must be dynamic, a self-starter, and personable. Team chemistry is a key consideration.
Relevant Experience:
- Approximately 3-5 years of relevant professional experience in top tier investment banking, private equity, transaction services, management consulting or another family office
- Sound judgement and track record of analysing potential new investment opportunities and assessing risks and opportunities
- Experienced with financial models for valuations and financial returns analysis, strong understanding of corporate finances, and 3-way financials statements
- Experienced with preparing board presentation, investment teasers and memos

- Master communicator and over-communicating. Regularly updating parties involved with latest developments, problems encountered, etc. to keep everyone in sync.

- Ability to frame complicated problems/ situations, mastery over large datasets and ability to leverage information to derive insights, ability to dig deep into a problem and invest time and
effort to fully understand.

Tasks and Responsibilities:
The role will include the following primary tasks and responsibilities:
- Analysing, documentation filing, monitoring, and reporting on the existing portfolio
- Develop and maintain a “knowledge library” (of funds, businesses, sectors, etc across different asset classes (PE, VC, etc.) ) through keeping track of investments opportunities and gathered
information
- Analysing and evaluating managers, funds and potential acquisition opportunities using both strategic and analytical approaches
- Benchmarking existing fund managers against their peers
- Reviewing/filtering unsolicited investment opportunities and using judgement to determine which ones merit further consideration
- Drafting investment papers for presentation to the Investment Committee
- Deal execution – documentation, liaising with legal teams, external parties, etc.
- Working closely with investment team (Portfolio and Investment Managers, CIO)
- The team is small and non-hierarchical, so an entrepreneurial mind-set is essential.
