INVESTMENT ASSOCIATE

An opportunity has arisen to join a Single Family Office as an Investment Associate, working directly with the two founding Partners of the Family Office.

 

They act as a boutique discretionary investment manager deploying capital and managing assets for an anchor Family and expect to further grow through asset appreciation and onboarding of further Family-Office clients.

 

Their endowment-style portfolio management consists of a broad range of global asset classes; fixed income, private credit, public equity, private equity, venture capital, alternatives, real estate and impact investments. These strategies are enacted both directly or through leading third-party managers with the focus on fundamental principles and a long-term investment horizon.

 

The successful candidate will have the following:

  • Experienced in multiple financial disciplines, ideally with a strong track record within direct investing, fund selection, and asset allocation.
  • Solid fundamental understanding of investing across all major asset classes.
  • A strong intellectual curiosity, an ability to work independently, and the ability to communicate complex information to key stakeholders.
  • Analytical and modelling skills and the ability to navigate a set of company accounts, think critically about risk and return, and commercially understand different asset classes.
  • Ability to independently research and analyse new investment opportunities, present investment papers, and interact with all stakeholders.
  • Ability to source investment opportunities, whilst not expected, is a plus.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Analysing and evaluating companies, managers, funds, strategies, and potential investment opportunities
  • Working on investment performance and analysis
  • Working on and with management teams, board meeting preparation, and reporting,
  • Assist with asset allocation analysis, performance monitoring across assets and asset classes, including operational and strategic reviews.
  • Identifying new opportunities and innovative ideas for investment
  • Attend investment pitches and investor presentations, conduct independent analysis, and write summaries.
  • Lead investment due diligence with Partner oversight.
  • Financial modelling and projection of performance, profit and loss, balance sheet and cash flows, including stress testing unit economics and valuations.
  • Industry competitive analysis and forecasting
  • Preparation of proposals for the investment committee. Writing internal reporting, memorandums and investment recommendations from pre-investment through to exit
  • Investment and deal execution including documentation and liaising with legal teams and other external parties.
  • Growing, managing and evaluating the investment pipeline

 

Qualifications And Competencies:                                           

  • Bachelor’s degree from a leading university and preferably CFA qualified, or a willingness to undertake the charter.
  • Outstanding intellectual and analytical skills, discipline, resourcefulness and resilience, with high degree of integrity and team-orientation
  • Excellent skills across Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint, with strong attention to detail and ability to produce work across all three applications to a professional standard with first-rate attention to detail.
  • Experience of equity analysis and investing, at company, industry and asset class level
  • Experience with multi-asset class analysis and investing from a principal investment perspective, including sourcing and evaluating fund managers.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate complex problems with ambiguous information into actionable strategies.
  • Demonstrable understanding of and interest in, capital markets, financial services and technology
  • The proven ability to work with flexibility, efficiency and enthusiasm, both individually and as part of a small sized team
  • Proactive attitude with a can-do, solutions-based approach and a strong sense of accountability and ownership
  • Proven multitasking experience, working with multiple tight deadlines.
  • Strong communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills.
