Wedlake Bell understands the sensitivities and dynamics of families and the complex, often global, nature of the challenges that can face family offices.

We regard a deep understanding of our client's operations, aspirations, ethos and approach to business and wealth management as essential, as only this allows us to establish the long term relationship of trust that is the hallmark of our firm. We deliver the advice that you need clearly and with the minimum of fuss; filtering out and managing the mundane and helping clients to focus and deal with what is  important. That is why we have been able to help our clients to create, preserve and grow their businesses and wealth, generation after generation.

At any given time we may be helping our clients to minimise their tax, navigate the regulatory minefield, make investments or strategic corporate acquisitions, buy or sell property, set up fund structures, raise bank or debt finance, hire and incentivise employees, fight and resolve an international dispute, protect a brand or reputation or confidential information or plan for succession.  We have teams of experts in all these areas, and more besides, that can deal with any commercial or personal law issue that a family office could face in this era of increasing specialisation.

However, we promise that there will always be one key partner involved who will have knowledge of your affairs (often gathered over a period of years) and all the matters that we are advising you on, so that the bigger picture is always kept in mind. The partner that you meet at the outset will be the partner that handles your relationship with the firm, will always be available to you and will ensure the seamless delivery of all your legal requirements.

Whilst the family office community is a key focus for us, we have very broad specialist experience in acting for a host of other clients, from serial entrepreneurs and tech start-ups, to companies listing on the capital markets, property funds, banks and other financial institutions.  We know how the counterparties that you may deal with think and operate.  This breadth of experience allows us to formulate the innovative, joined-up and flexible legal solutions that we pride ourselves on delivering.

We are an English law firm, but our outlook and client base is truly international. We deal with matters across the globe, from the US, Europe, Australia, the Middle East, the Indian sub-continent and China and the Far East.  We work closely with like-minded-firms in all these jurisdictions via an international network which we founded.  However, we retain our independence so that we can find the firm best suited to deal with the matter at hand.

Our charging structures are transparent and we endeavour to offer a choice as to how we charge, including retainer arrangements, fixed fees and blended rates depending on the scale of work that you require.
