We are searching on behalf of our long-term family client for a Butler to join this delightful London based household.


You will be highly professional, energetic, proactive in approach and flexible, and be able to work as part of a close team communicating clearly and effectively. High levels of discretion and initiative are expected.


Your main place of work will be at the London property based on Monday – Friday.  However, there will be very occasional weekend requirements to assist at the country residence and a few weeks of the year would be overseas with the family.


The responsibilities of the role include, but are not limited to:

  • Preparing and serving breakfast
  • Working closely with the chef for lunch and supper, serving at table
  • Driving for the family, including early morning children’s school runs
  • Cleaning the cars, ensuring they are stocked with water/newspapers, as required
  • Maintaining exacting standards for all aspects of the Principal’s dressing room
  • Cleaning the Principal’s shoes
  • Packing and unpacking for the Principal
  • Checking the house is secure and setting the alarm, both when the family is in residence and when they are away
  • Gaining an understanding of and developing a working knowledge of all systems in the house – heating, cooling, AV, swimming pool etc
  • Taking out the rubbish and recycling
  • Ensuring a good stock of general supplies including light bulbs, shoe polish, batteries, tool kits etc
  • Proactively ensuring that the house runs smoothly, reporting any issues to the PA
  • Undertaking general maintenance – changing light bulbs, fixing small issues, if appropriate
  • Ensuring drinks fridge is fully stocked
  • Liaising closely with the chef regarding any supplies that are needed
  • Liaising closely with the nannies regarding cars needed for children’s activities
  • Proactively ensuring that the information in the team calendar is clear and that all the details required are there
  • Running any errands for the family and household, as required
  • With the PA liaising with contractors to ensure any work is carried out to a high standard and that security is not breached
  • Working with the team when the family is away on a systematic ‘spring clean’ of the house, including cleaning the silver, chandeliers, outside space etc
  • Being aware constantly of the security of the family and their home


Salary depending on experience in the region of £35,000-£40,000
