Cadell+Co offers portfolio management services for art held by Family Offices and Trusts. It is the first firm in the art advisory world to be FCA regulated, bringing professionalism and
transparency to art transactions, art loans and introducing art portfolio management. It's primarily aimed at Trusts, Family Offices, and their advisers.
Launched by Luke Dugdale, Richard Bagnall-Smith, Richard Camber and Willem-Joost de Gier, Cadell benefits from over 100 years of collective experience from Christie’s, Sotheby’s and the Private
Banking worlds of Deutsche Bank and UBS. Sectors covered by Cadell+Co are similar to the major auction houses, ranging from pictures to jewellery and decorative arts to sculpture.
Cadell+Co is not an art investment firm. It’s best described as an asset preservation firm, managing existing collections/portfolios to preserve and enhance their value. It doesn’t broker any deals
or act as a sales channel. In this way Cadell+Co is also unique in not being conflicted when offering advice, as it only works for one side.
Cadell+Co's key product areas include;
- Transaction advice. Clients need professional advice when preparing to buy or sell. Unlike most dealers and auction houses, Cadell will not just focus on the highest value items, but will advise
the Client on: the price performance of their collection and the most suitable contenders for sale, the most suitable channel from auction to private sale, and the fee structure if sold at auction.
This advice ensures that the longterm value and integrity of the collection is taken into account during this process.
- Portfolio/Collection management. This system, with its bank-level security, stores; art images, documents and all values (insurance, book costs, valuation costs). This data drives a bespoke
portfolio management reporting suite (based on traditional banking portfolio structure) that allow Family Office members and Trustees to monitor the ongoing performance of their art portfolio.
- Advice on obtaining loans against art. Short term opportunities and commitments can require Clients to set up loans agains their art. Luke Dugdale has managed an art loans practise for 6
years in the Private Banking world and can advise Clients on the best structures.
- Valuations. Cadell has access to a world-wide range of independent specialists who can carry out valuations for insurance, sale or to populate our collection management system.
