LIVE-OUT TUTOR / PA

Our client is looking to employ a Tutor for their two children, aged eight and ten years old. There will also be some family related PA duties involved in this position. The family employ a live-in housekeeper, so there are no/minimal nursery duties.
This is a Monday to Friday position. Starting at approximately 13:00 and finishing at 20:00. Although an occasional weekend day-trip with the children to a museum, gallery, zoo or fair could be helpful with the children’s educational goals.
Tutor – Responsibilities: The tutor will pick the children up from (two different) schools each day at 16:30 and 16.45, some days at 5.30pm if the children attend afterschool clubs - Both children communicate well in English. However, the Tutor’s goal will be to teach and perfect their level of spoken and written English, with emphasis on correct pronunciation and diction, additionally - the tutor will support and oversee the children with their homework, studies and school projects, by aiding comprehension of the subjects being taught, and developing the children’s curiosity to learn and embrace new subject matter/s - While candidates must have assured social-skills and be able to show they can fit seamlessly into the family's established structure - Minimal child-sitting duties will be expected from the Tutor as the family employ a much loved, live-in Housekeeper, who has been with them for a considerable period of time.
PA Responsibilities - Many of the PA duties can be managed from home, these include, but are not limited to: Online shopping for the house and children, which includes: researching and then ordering preferred products and merchandise, sometimes from abroad - Managing petty cash - Ensuring the children have the correct school uniforms, gym and games kit, shoes etc - Ensuring the children have the necessary reference books, stationary and learning tools for special projects - Researching theatre, movie and museum trips that might assist the children with their education and help them with their understanding of special projects - Booking dentist, doctor & hairdresser appointments for the children, and accompany them as needed.
Candidate Requirements: Candidates must communicate as if they are a native English speaker, while spoken and written French would be an advantageous although not a prerequisite - Must have previous experience of teaching primary school aged children (school or private tutor) - Must be well-read and educated to a high level, possibly with a degree in English literature - Character traits sought include: Tenacity, self-confidence, self-motivation and kindness and flexibility with a happy positive personality - Candidates must have a transparent and verifiable background with excellent, checkable references - A current DBS is required.
