Lovely family now seeking a Junior to assist their Head Butler, with the efficient management of their beautiful household. 


Must be well presented, quick to learn, bright and willing with a good background knowledge in private service (the Head Butler is willing to give further training). You will be expected to support the Senior Butlers and Head Housekeeper, with a wide range of operationally essential tasks.


General Duties:                    

To work closely with and under the direction of the Head Butler at all times / Cover for the Head Butler in his absence / In conjunction with fellow team members, to assist with the opening up procedure of the household / Assisting Senior Housekeeper and Housemaids with tasks such as changing water in vases and tidying obvious debris from Reception Rooms (e.g. glasses, tea/coffee tray, chocolate trays etc.) / Laying up breakfast, lunch and dinner tables and trays, to include service / Cleaning, vacuuming and laying the fires together with replenishing log baskets / Ensure silver, crystal and china is systematically cleaned, maintained and stored in the correct manner / Crystal chandeliers and glass lampshades should be maintained as part of the annual household cleaning schedule / Pantry duties: keeping pantry tidy, emptying bins etc. / Care of fine antique furniture and paintings / To follow the correct household procedure for dealing with/handling fine art and antiquities.


Receiving of guests, service of drinks and notifying the Principal(s) of arrivals / Unpacking and packing for the Principal and gentleman guests. Valeting for the Principal and gentleman guests / Wardrobe management for the Principal / To assist the Head Butler in managing the Cellar / Decanting and serving fine wines and port / If required, stock control of soft drinks, mineral waters and dry stores e.g., speciality teas, fine chocolates etc / At busy times, to assist in the kitchen with prep work and washing up / To assist with extended family functions as and when required / To assist on shoot days as and when required / To assist on board family boats as and when required / Running errands and shopping as required by the Principal(s)  / Gun maintenance, to include care of leather cases, gun cases and cartridge bags / Driving as and when required.


Answering and screening telephone calls in line with the household procedure / For security purposes, ensuring trade’s people are supervised whilst in the house / Receiving goods/packages and recording in house log book accordingly / Any other tasks as requested by the Head Butler, Principals and their family.


Must have clean driving licence, non smoker. Accommodation in separate and lovely lodge on the grounds. Holiday 28 days per annum.  5½ day week rostered in advance.  Work place pension. Travel (is generally within the UK and Europe, although could be as far reaching as Australia). £20,000 to £30,000 DOE – min experience 1 – 4 years required.
