LIVE-IN HOUSE MANAGER

Location - HONG KONG

 

We are looking to place an experienced, proactive, and flexible House Manager for our client's main residence in Hong Kong.

 

The Principals - who are both successful business people - have two young children and a friendly golden retriever dog. The residence is located on the south side of Hong Kong Island. The household is fully staffed with Housekeepers (x5), Nannies (x2), Drivers (x3), and Cook (x1).  However the key is now to establish a diligent, hard- working and loyal House Manager who will orchestrate the smooth running of the residence, allowing the Principals time to work and have down time with their children.  You will be reporting into the Principals.

 

You will have gained experience as a House Manager within a similar fully staffed residence (of mixed nationalities) or 5* hotel, preferably within UK / Europe and Asia, and know how to manage and train staff in an effective and productive manner taking the cultural differences into consideration.  It is important that you can train by example and therefore must have an in-depth knowledge of materials, fine fabrics, wardrobe management and service.  Guidelines, procedures and inventories have been put in place but these need to be regularly updated.  You must have the confidence in your ability to recommend changes to improve the overall running of the family home when needed.  High standards are expected without question, but your input and suggestions will be welcome.  It is important that you speak excellent English, and ability to communicate easily with different nationalities of household staff.

 

Although Nannies are employed, it is important that you are comfortable working with children in the house and have proven experience of doing so.

 

  • Trust, discretion, dedication, flexibility to travel, good organisational and logistic skills are all key elements for this role.

  • A true eye for fine detail is essential, as is a down-to-earth manner and sense of calm.

  • Preference will be for candidates who have worked in Asia and Europe before, and know they can acclimatise to the environment and humidity.

  • Proven longevity and glowing references are essential.

  • Good spoken English and preferably Mandarin.

 

Separate Accommodation will be provided.

Days of work - 6 days, 10 hours per day including lunch and tea breaks.

Holiday: 4 weeks within a calendar year.

Yearly return economy flight.

Salary will be based on experience to date circa £50K+

Initial interviews will be via video - final stage candidates will have the opportunity to meet the Principals and see the residence.
