Location - SOUTH LANARKSHIRE, SCOTLAND
Our client is looking for a committed and proactive individual to take on the role of Estate Manager of a private residential estate in South Lanarkshire, Scotland.
The Estate has a substantial historic house along with extensive grounds, including gardens, woodlands, cottages and agricultural grazing land.
Roles and Responsibilities: The day to day responsibilities of the role include: managing a staff with full time and temporary/seasonal employees; administrative duties such as timely bill paying; record keeping; familiarity with computers and Microsoft Office; carrying out and overseeing maintenance and repair of the properties; coordinating with the owner’s family and guests; organising and overseeing larger scale works; resolving unexpected matters; the security of grounds and property; dealing with tradesmen and other professionals; and many other general estate tasks as required.
The candidate must have extensive experience with the main trades. Candidates must be honest, motivated, organised, flexible, polite, have good leadership skills, and be able to multi-task when situations require. Applicants should be self-reliant and capable of coping with emergencies as they arise, and should be prepared to manage an organic, toxin-free household. Guidance will be available from the owners as needed. Candidates must have a proven track record in sole-working, and must hold a current UK driving license.
Ideally the candidate will have background experience in organically managing a family garden and pasture land as well as general outdoor skills. Experience managing and dealing with a small staff is essential. Suitable training and PPE will be provided for this role where necessary. The candidate will be expected to use only Approved Contractors and carry out a CDM role where required.
There may be an additional part or full-time role available for the successful candidate’s partner as Assistant Estate Manager and/or Housekeeper, depending on experience and qualifications. This role would focus on the management of the house and guests. Day to day activities for this role would include coordinating with the owner’s family and guests, housekeeping, cooking, and various other activities which could vary from week to week, all as directed by the owners.
Accommodation: A private cottage on the estate is provided, and employees may be accompanied by their family. There are two estate vehicles which the estate manager may use for company business matters.
The owners value a calm, gracious, and even-tempered attitude, and require the utmost discretion and confidentiality at all times. DBS Cleared, Clean UK Driving Licence, Non smoker. 10 - 15 years similar experience.
Salary £38,000-£45,000 DOE, start ASAP.
