HEAD OF MARKETING, FAMILY FOUNDATION

HEAD OF MARKETING, FAMILY FOUNDATION

Posted - 23 Apr 2023

Location - GUILDFORD, UK

Are you a communicator that is passionate about making change?

This is an incredibly exciting and rare opportunity to join a Foundation on the outskirts of London as their first Head of Marketing.

This Foundation is the philanthropic arm of a private family office and their sphere of interest is focused on sustainable human centred conservation and community development in Southern Africa as well as mental wellbeing issues, mainly in the UK.

The successful candidate will be the Foundation’s first marketing hire as they look to increase public awareness, engagement in and understanding of complex issues around conservation and sustainable use approaches and their contribution to economic development goals.

This role requires a person who is an excellent communicator, a passionate change-maker and a person with experience across journalism, public relations and marketing who is ready for a one-of-a-kind challenge.

The Foundation is committed to preserving the principles of the sustainable use of natural resources and the rights of people living alongside wildlife to choose how best to manage and utilise it sustainably.

They are looking for an exceptional, experienced and strategic individual to develop and embed an evidence-led communications campaign to promote sustainable use as a principle in conservation and communities across the world. This is a highly contentious topic and one that will need to be tackled by a strong communicator, ready to break down barriers and existing ideologies through the power of marketing.

This person will need to be a marketer who has exposure to and experience in content creation, social media strategy, local and global politics, not-for-profit organizations and public relations.

The successful candidate will need to be a confident networker, able to build long-lasting relationships with relevant global media houses, local politicians and change-makers on a global stage. While able to remain hands-on with the daily creation of content and campaigns, the successful Head of Marketing will also need to devise and embed an evidence-based marketing strategy for the Foundation alongside a budget and reporting strategy to achieve the Foundation’s goals.

Key Qualities and Experience:

  • Experience in designing and driving a global communications campaign aimed at a diverse range of audiences which will deliver measurable results.
  • Experience in communicating contentious issues and developing messaging related to challenging issues.
  • A person who seeks to inform rather than persuade by being credible, trustworthy, relevant and evidence based.
  • A strategic thinker, who can build effective working relationships with partners and advise colleagues on communications campaigns and how to engage target audiences.
  • Able to facilitate collaboration in wide-spread networks, connecting individual communications into a cohesive campaign.
  • With the ability to develop and deliver a cohesive content and social media strategy and cultivate and develop relations with media outlets to secure placement of thought leading content.
  • A person who can establish new mechanisms for dissemination of accurate information related to sustainable use.

Key Qualifications:

  • Extensive communications and or public relations expertise at a senior level.
  • Experience working in a communications environment with global reach.
  • A minimum of 8 years’ professional experience in communications, marketing, journalism, PR, or related field.
  • Proven ability to create and place articles in major media outlets and experience with social media strategy and content creation.
  • A good understanding of the international political environment.
  • A demonstrated and well-established network of effective international communications and media contacts.

Other requirements:

  • The Family Foundation is located in Surrey. The successful candidate will be required to travel into the office generally once a week or on an ad-hoc basis but will be able to work remotely most of the time.
  • Given the Foundation’s work in Southern Africa, travel will be required as part of this role.
  • The foundation works with a number of sympathetic organisations and this position will also be the centre point for their growing network of partners, with the same communications and campaign goals.

Remuneration will likely be in the region of £70,000 – £90,000.
