An excellent opportunity has arisen for one of our HNW client’s based in Somerset. They are looking to hire for an Estates Manager who will lead the management of a diverse portfolio of privately owned properties.

 

These include a large country house and associated cottages, which are currently rented to staff employed within the portfolio companies; The substantial main family residence and stables; a large bespoke built office and warehouse; as well as extensive farmland, with mixed tenancy arrangements

 

The successful candidate will work with the family to create the blueprint for managing the estate and the requirements, which will guide the focus of the role going forwards. This is a hands-on role, however, there are existing employees who will report to this role, including an office manager, gardener and driver as well as external providers, such as cleaning and maintenance providers.

 

Responsibilities;

  • Management of internal and external providers: facilities team members, gardeners, cleaners, chauffeur and external contractors; including the recruitment, issuing contracts, training, scheduling, sign off for timesheets and submission to payroll and day to day management
  • Oversight of the Fleet Management; ensuring the chauffer is keeping all cars clean, stocked, maintained and insured
  • Coordinating with family PA’s and support staff to ensure travel and logistics can run smoothly (vehicle, staff or property availability etc.)
  • Create a maintenance schedule for the estate and all its properties that is cost effective and minimises upheaval, and ensures the land estates meet the family’s expectations at all times
  • Create and manage a services schedule that covers cleaning, laundry, bill payment, office and family gym
  • Engage and manage all contractors conducting regular maintenance, repairs or new developments, ensuring that they deliver to time, quality and budget and cause minimal interruption
  • Recommend changes to ensure the land and properties are used to their best potential
  • Build and manage the relationship with external bodies such as DEFRA and RPA

 

The Successful Candidate;

  • Comfortable in working autonomously and setting own direction, has experience both in hands-on as well as managing others to deliver exceptional service
  • Extensive experience managing external providers from architects, to cleaning services
  • Is pragmatic in terms of where to make improvements and how to go about it, is able to balance cost, quality and timeliness when making decisions
  • Likely to have had service training in private residences and/or luxury hotel and as such used to delivering the highest level of personal service with attention to detail at every step
  • Excellent business skills; competent in finance, HR as well as amazing project management, planning and organisation capabilities
  • Able to guide, motivate and engage those around you as well as confidently able to deal with disciplinary matters
  • Clarity of communication, so that everyone has clear understanding of what will be delivered, always 
  • An excellent moral compass: you are driven to do things the right way with honesty and integrity
  • You are able to maintain a high level of confidentiality and discretion at all times  

 

Salary: Up to £100K depending on experience. This role also offers to live on sight.
