Our client is the Office of a family that has built significant wealth in the retail sector and has since branched out to invest in hospitality and hotels.

 

They are looking to employ a financially astute and investment savvy COO within the holding company, to take on an oversight, strategic and management responsibility for the portfolio of operating businesses and guide the future investment direction and strategy for the company. Future investment strategy is an important part of the role as it develops, so expertise on Asset Allocation within quoted markets but also investment into operating businesses will be important.

 

The purpose of the role is to manage and oversee all financial and structural elements of a complex business portfolio with a range of assets which currently include a retail business, Real Estate Development and Hospitality.

 

You will be responsible for creating procedures and structures in order to financially manage the assets as well as successfully working with the heads of the individual businesses internationally.

 

This role involves a high level of responsibility and you must be able to demonstrate you have the requisite experience of working for a Family Office and of having a sound financial and commercial background, relevant to varied operating businesses. The role will also involve travel especially in the early stages – in order to understand assets and requirement to develop a successful reporting structure.  

 

The successful candidate will need to have a strong understanding of Finance and Risk, Cash Management, Credit, Dividends and Tax and with the family interests being multi-jurisdictional, international tax understanding is important.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Strategic and operational management of investment portfolio cash flow
    Midterm and long-term budgeting
    • Monitors the financial and operating performance of existing investments and develops efficient investment processes and procedures
    • Responsible for managing and investing the company capital to maximize its return
    • Working closely with all stakeholders to provide commercial and strategic financial advice based on in-depth understanding of profitability, transformational change and operational excellence
  • Internal audit and consolidation
    Business processes audit
    • Designing and implementing the best practices in reporting, internal controls and corporate governance across the assets
    • Design the most efficient finance, tax and legal structure of the Group
    • Responsible for finance, accounting, budgeting and planning; ensuring accurate reporting and establishing proper processes and controls
  • Compliance and risk management
    • Responsible for holding Risk and Compliance management
    • Performs or oversees advanced analytical and operational activities related to existing investments
    • Focuses on the suitability and risk of individual investments and managing portfolio risk
  • Participation in Business development
    • Contribute to holding investment management strategy through research and market intelligence, oversees in-depth analyses of prospective new investments
    • Lead the execution of fundraising including funds structuring, marketing, investor due diligence, negotiations, documentation, compliance
    • Bank and investor sourcing and relations; maintain and strengthen existing investor relationships

 

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Strong team leader who is comfortable with a flexible organization and coordination across business units and teams

  • Demonstrates investment process knowledge

  • Board work and portfolio company’s governance experience, has worked with alternative assets

  • Experience of working in the CIS environment

  • CFA or equivalent

  • Fluently speaking in Russian and English

  • EU citizenship

 

Package will be competitive for the right candidate and dependent on experience and will be evenly split between fixed element and performance bonus.
