Overview:

Principal has over 25 years of professional experience, with the majority of that time having been spent in structured finance and private investments. His professional experience has centered on sales, account management, structuring, and execution of structured products in fixed income. Principal is currently the Founding Partner and Chairman of ___ Capital- a sector-focused alternative investment manager whose investment philosophy centers on partnership with innovative entrepreneurs and great management teams to help build high-growth companies. Company’s current investment focus includes: research and testing, cultivation, processing, and consumer and retail. Principal is responsible for leading the firm’s fundraising activity, deal generation, and driving the co-investment process. He is the General Partner’s representative on the Limited Partner Advisory Committee.  He has a family office with multiple investments throughout different sectors, has estates, trusts and multiple financial verticals currently going. Currently he has an assistant, estate staff and is looking to expand his financial team.

 

Role:

We are looking for a qualified Controller to handle, prepare, compute, manage, research and analyze all accounts for the Principal’s family office. This will be a dynamic role, as it will be highly intensive financial planning for the initial six months, followed by pivoting into additional roles on special projects as well as managing financials. This is considered a controller position but also encompasses those tasks of bookkeeper, and accountant. The candidate must be proactive and be able to work diligently with little supervision. This is a remote job, with weekly meetings at the Principal’s home in Chelsea, Manhattan.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Pay all bills to existing and new vendors, and create systems to integrate them into financial network.

  • Keep track /accounting of all expenditures by category.

  • Monitor all monies going in and out; put into an electronic format and do comprehensive breakdowns from there.

  • Stay on top of, and monitor all trust & estate accounts.

  • Monitor and check all individual bills and CC statements.

  • Update and keep track of QuickBooks.

  • Occasionally create new entities; set up new accounts or vehicles

  • Assist in all accounting capacities

  • Diligently handle all tax accounting and information. Create cohesive systems around tax preparation and file taxes for Principal. This includes trust returns, & personal returns.

  • Interface with brokerage firms and financial people, ensure they have up to date statements, etc.

  • Verify existing investments and make sure all paperwork is up to date and account for

  • Create balance sheets & income statements and proactively go over with Principal.

  • Handle all reconciliation of projects and negotiate minor contracts.

  • Able and willing to handle random administrative jobs. Once the accounting systems are in place, there will be more time freed up to handle administrative duties and special projects.

  • Serve as a liaison between all financial players on behalf of the Principal.

 

Details:

  • Full-time / Flexible position

  • Work from home and meet once a week at Principal’s house

  • Send monthly reports: the Principal is paperless and will need all of his finances from the past year analyzed and inputted into systems.
